There has been a disturbing trend of child deaths in West Bengal, with three children passing away on Thursday alone. Over the past month, there have been several such incidents, prompting the National Child Protection Commission to investigate the matter.
Commission members recently visited both the BC Roy Child Hospital and the Kolkata Medical College Hospital to gather information. Sadly, the state witnessed another three child deaths: two at BC Roy Children's Hospital and one at Calcutta Medical College Hospital.
On Wednesday, Chairperson Sudeshna Roy and member Ananya Chatterjee from the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited three children's hospitals in the city and reported that adequate services were being provided, and no complaints were received.
However, the death of Rudranshu Kumar, a nine-month-old, on Thursday morning has raised doubts about the veracity of the claims.
